Of Marble, Coin and Rain
The Trevi Fountain. It is Roma's largest Baroque signature fountain and the most famous fountain in the world. There is a whimsical custom, for locals and tourists alike, to lob a coin into the fountain using your right hand and over your left shoulder with your back facing the fountain. This was introduced by the 1954 film, Three Coins in the Fountain. An estimate of 3,000 Euros are thrown into the fountain each day. This sum is then used to fund a supermarket for the needy.
The rain was pouring down and the moment was right as the day transitioned into night. The beautiful, elusive and fleeting winter twilight hour. You have, but only a 15 minute window for that optimal moment when the the city is lit up and the sky is still blue.
